The Guide is a
qualified Mountain Leader with over 30 years experience, who has
climbed all the peaks over 2000-ft in Wales. The guide
will carry all the appropriate safety equipment, including: first aid kit,
emergency shelter, mobile phone, GPS receiver, etc.
The Guide will choose walks in accordance with the group’s
ability and wishes as well as taking into local factors, such as weather,
access and parking, while avoiding busy areas. The primary objective is
for the group to enjoy the walks, therefore the group’s wishes will
influence the choice of walks on a daily basis. Instruction on route
finding and navigation can be provided if desired.
Routes
are chosen to minimise effort and maximise enjoyment, e.g. ridge-routes
provide excellent views and tend to maintain height once gained. However,
the disadvantage is that linear ridge routes finish a long way from the
starting point, this can be avoided by choosing circular routes
(horse-shoes). Where necessary, public transport will be used or car
shuffles will be arranged. Routes are chosen to start from car parks
"at
altitude" to minimise the work! |
